About Us
INdiart is an Aboriginal owned and run Indigenous art supplier whose aim is to encourage and nurture people’s love of art and culture. Our aim is to deliver an affordable art experience for curious minds who want to learn more about Aboriginal art and culture.
Our products are focused on educating children and adults on how to paint traditional Aboriginal art while learning about Aboriginal culture through the stories and background of the designs.
INDIart was founded by Biripi/Worimi man Michael Manikas and Anabel Manikas. Michael's family has a long line of family members who have contributed to the Aboriginal art space for many years and still continue today.
Our Artist - Caroline Dallinger
Our in-house artist, Caroline Dallinger is a proud Gamilaroi Woman. Using a variety of dot patterns, linework, sponging and brush techniques – she creates her story. She combines her version of traditional and new age art in her paintings. Caroline loves to use vibrant and bold colours with a mix of earthy colours to showcase the fun in Art! She is also very passionate about the Aboriginal Culture and the Communities.
While growing up, she had a hard time expressing her emotions and Art was her way to cope and overcome her emotions. Over time, she learnt a lot about her family, her culture and her identity. Being able to combine Art and Culture to tell a story helped her become the Artist she is today. Caroline is an Aboriginal Youth Mentor in Dubbo NSW, a role she is very proud to help encourage our future leaders to explore their Culture and Identity in so many positive ways.
Caroline created the original series of sketches we have available from INDIart and assisted with the painting techniques and cultural education provided with our artwork.
Founder - Michael Manikas
Michael Manikas is a Biripi/Worimi man. His family are from the Mid North Coast of NSW. Michael family is the Cook and Syron families many of whom have and still have a strong association with Aboriginal art.
Michael's passion is about educating children and adults about Aboriginal culture through art. Aboriginal people are the oldest continuous culture on this planet and have a wealth of traditional knowledge to share with the rest of the world.
On our journey through art you will learn how to paint using traditional techniques and at the same time you will learn stories of The Dreaming, traditional Aboriginal symbols and native animals.
We hope you enjoy this journey through the past 70,000 years as we move towards true reconciliation and understanding.
